On the Steyr ball night of the year, the town hall is bursting at the seams

It is the date that not only the city’s more than 300 firefighters and their partners have been looking forward to for a year, but also one that makes the Steyr Ball Tigers rejoice: On Saturday, January 13th, the “76th Ball of the Volunteer Fire Department” will take place in the town hall City of Steyr”. Starts at 8 p.m., doors open at 7 p.m. At the end of the (individual) ball, it dawns on some people that it is already very early in the morning.

“We demand of ourselves that we maintain our high level and yet continue to improve,” says Markus Schaumberger, commander of the Steyr technical platoon, who has been the ball chairman since 2013 together with Andreas Auer, platoon commander in Gleink use is. We have therefore come up with a lot of new ideas for the Steyr Ball of Balls, the Steyr Night of Nights.

No inflation markup

But first, let’s talk about the tried and tested: For the second time in a row, the highly danceable music in the town hall, which has been transformed into a sparkling ballroom, comes from the Post Big Band Salzburg. Shortly before midnight, exactly at 11:30 p.m., the ball guests are seduced by a midnight performance that is divided into two parts: a spectacular dance performance by two world champions is followed by an equally breathtaking acrobatic show. Schaumberger: “We don’t want to reveal more yet. But I actually wouldn’t miss out on either of them.”

The lounge on the upper floor of the hall has also long proven itself, from where you can enjoy a fantastic view of the ballroom while sipping a cocktail. Connoisseurs also get their money’s worth in the Weinstadl. If you like something a little more racy, we warmly recommend the disco in the basement garage.

As far as ball costs are concerned, the Florianis have slowed down this year after the increase last year and left everything as it was. Only the beer price was adjusted moderately to 3.70 euros. The popular sausages still cost a slim five euros, the ball ticket costs 28 euros (32 at the box office).

“People should say when they go home: It was casual and the price was right,” says Auer. However, it is advisable to get tickets as soon as possible, as advance sales have been going very well for a long time.

For the first time this year there are three official ticket sales points: at Mode Steinecker in “Hey!”, in the Stadtservice in the town hall and in the Schnaubelt tobacco shop in Münichholz. Tickets are also available from all members of the Steyr Volunteer Fire Department.

A tip: If you outgrow your ball outfit over the Christmas holidays, it’s worth going to Steinecker. Anyone who buys evening wear for 199 euros or more will have the cost of the ball ticket refunded.

Fire brigade ball in Garsten

If you want to get your dancing legs going in a timely manner, the Garstner Fire Department Ball is highly recommended. On Saturday, January 6th, from 7 p.m., guests are welcome in the Garsten event hall. The music again comes from the band “Six Pence”. Table reservations by phone at 0699/11902551.

After the ball, like every year, there will also be before the ball: on January 27th there will be the FF Gleink ball in the Gleink multi-purpose hall. The music here comes from the band Keep Cool. Tickets are available from the comrades of fire brigade 3.

Free at the ball: parking and drop-off service

Thanks to a cooperation with the “Hey!” shopping center and Neue Heimat, visitors to the fire brigade ball can stand for free in the Hey! underground car park and in the open space in front of the shopping center. The entry ticket is validated when entering the town hall, remains valid until Sunday, January 14th at 11 a.m. and is free until then. Cars picked up after that will be charged the normal garage rate.

Another cooperation between the ball organizers concerns the Stadtbetriebe Steyr (SBS). Every hour on the hour from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. an SBS bus will leave directly in front of the town hall and will travel on the Steyr Nightline route. This home delivery service is also free for guests of the fire brigade ball.
