The English Football Premier League doesn’t take a breather around Christmas time. There are six games on the program on Saturday, including the big one at 6.30 p.m. (Sky) between pursuers Liverpool, who are one point behind, and leaders Arsenal. The ball is even rolling on Christmas Eve, with the Sunday match between Wolverhampton (Sasa Kalajdzic) and Chelsea (2 p.m.) on the agenda. On “Boxing Day”, December 26th, things continue with a similar intensity – continuously from 1:30 p.m. to 10:50 p.m.
One person who cannot actively intervene in the proceedings is Luton captain Tom Lockyer. Nevertheless, the 29-year-old Welshman has the best news. After his worrying collapse in the (aborted) match at Bournemouth, the defense chief was allowed to leave the hospital. L
ockyer had to be resuscitated a week ago after a cardiac arrest on the pitch. A cardioverter-defibrillator has now been fitted to the leading player “to prevent a repeat of Saturday’s incident”. It is still unclear whether Lockyer will continue his career. The Dane Christian Eriksen, for example, plays for Manchester United with a defibrillator, so it is possible.
However, Lockyer had already collapsed in the promotion game against Coventry in May due to heart problems. However, his club ruled out a direct connection: “The problem was different than the atrial fibrillation back then.”
