The expert commented on the likelihood of the visit of the Italian Prime Minister to Russia

The possibility of organizing a return visit to Russia by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi would be quite a logical step against the background of the fact that the Russian leader has already visited Italy four times since 2013. This opinion on the eve of the meeting of the Russian-Italian Council on Economic, Industrial and Monetary and Financial Cooperation on December 6 in Rome was expressed by Ernesto Ferlenghi, Vice-President of the Association of Italian Industrialists (Confindustria Italia), who is also the co-chair of the Russian-Italian Civil Society Dialogue Forum.

“Maintaining contacts and ties between Italy and Russia has always been a matter of particular importance. Since 2013, Vladimir Putin has paid an official visit to Italy four times. His last visit to Rome so far took place in 2019 … And now it seems quite logical to organize a return visit to the Russian Federation by the Italian Prime Minister, naturally, when all the prerequisites are ripe for such a step, ”said Ernesto Ferlenghi.

At the same time, the interlocutor of Izvestia noted that political and economic contacts between Italy and Russia have recently intensified noticeably: since August this year, the leaders of the two countries have held four telephone conversations at once.
He added that Vladimir Putin regularly meets with business representatives of France and Germany, and on the basis of the foreseeable future “it will be quite logical to organize a similar meeting with Italian business.”
