The bombings by Israel and the fighting continues this Saturday in Loopwhere the Palestinian population awaits the arrival of more humanitarian aid after a resolution of the UN Security Council.

After five days of arduous negotiations to avoid the veto of USA, The Security Council adopted a text that calls for the “immediate” and “large-scale” delivery of humanitarian aid to the palestinian territory. Gaza: Israel hinders the distribution of humanitarian aid

The implementation of the resolution today raised many questions: the humanitarian aid, which enters the Palestinian enclave in dribs and drabs from Egypt and from the Kerem Shalom crossing, is far from the needs of the population, on the verge of famineaccording to the UN.

“The way in which Israel is developing its offensive is causing huge obstacles to the distribution of humanitarian aid inside Gaza“said the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, on the social network X.

Before the resolution, Israel, which checks trucks entering Loop, criticized the way UN agencies distributed aid. Even the Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Coheninsisted yesterday on that issue and maintained that “the Security Council’s decision underscores the need to ensure that the United Nations is more effective in the transfer of humanitarian aid and ensuring that aid reaches its destination and is not in the hands of Hamas terrorists.

On the Palestinian side, the ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansurstated that the resolution is “a step in the right direction” but that it must be accompanied by “un immediate ceasefire“More bluntly, the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which governs Gaza, considered that the resolution is “insufficient” and “does not respond to the catastrophic situation created by the Zionist war machine.”

The war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas

Israel promised annihilate Hamasafter their attack on October 7, in which more than 1,100 people, most of them civilians. The militiamen also kidnapped about 250 people – among them twenty with Argentine nationality -, more than a hundred were released and 129 remain captive in Gaza.

The Israeli military response, by air and land, has left 20,258 dead, especially women and minors, according to Hamas. This balance includes 201 people dead in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health, which also reported more than 53,000 injured.

Furthermore, according to a statement issued today by Israel, around 200 Hamas and Islamic Jihad militiamen have been detained this last week in Gaza and transferred to Israeli territory. These “agents”, according to the statement, will now be subjected to the interrogation of Unit 504 of the Shin Bet and the Directorate of Military Intelligence.

Devastation and urgent needs

The conflict has destroyed much of Gaza and Israeli bombings have forced 1.9 million people to leave their homes, 85% of the population, according to the UN.

According to World Health Organization (WHO)), after more than two months of war, only nine of the 36 hospitals in the enclave are partially operational. Furthermore, the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres recalled that 36 UN workers died in 75 days.

This is “something that never seen before in the history of the UN“Warned Guterres and added that “the majority” of United Nations personnel “have been forced to leave their homes.” He also maintained that only a humanitarian ceasefire will allow “to begin responding to the desperate needs of the people of Gaza and put an end to their nightmare,” he added.

At the diplomatic level, efforts continue to Egypt and Qatar to get a new one truceafter the week-long cessation at the end of November, which allowed the release of 105 hostages and 240 Palestinians detained in Israel.
