Aier China, the hospital’s parent group, tried to justify the incident and stated that the patient “presented an intolerance” during the surgery “due to local anesthesia” and began to move his head and eyes several times.

Regarding the incident that occurred in 2019, Aier China assured that it had never been reported, so they only now acted on the sanctions. In that sense, they announced the dismissal of the general director of the hospital and the suspension of the surgeon for “serious violations of group norms.”
The incident went viral after Ai Fen, a Chinese doctor, spread the images. The truth is that the professional is also in legal disputes with Aier China since 2021 due to an operation that was carried out in one of its hospitals that caused her to go blind in one eye, something that Aier China denies.
