After the weekend, Belarus is going to voice its response to Western sanctions. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the Republic Roman Golovchenko on Sunday, December 5.
“Naturally, we will work out decisions that will be announced in the coming days, obviously, immediately after the weekend,” he said on the air of the Belarus-1 TV channel.
According to him, although Belarus itself did not attack anyone, an economic war was unleashed against the country, and “absolutely adequate” measures will be taken in response.
“This is only a part of them: we are not going to use the entire arsenal, although the answers have been worked out. And the next measures will not be asymmetric, as we said, but symmetrical, ”added Belarusian Golovchenka.
The US sanctions list, announced on December 2, includes 10 individuals, 12 organizations and three aircraft. In particular, the sanctions affected the Belarusian Potash Company, Transaviaexport, Slavkali and Beltechexport, as well as the Belavia airline.
Roman Golovchenko said that the list of Belarusian enterprises that fell under Western sanctions raises confusion and doubts about the professionalism of its compilers.
On December 4, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the new sanctions against Belarus, adopted by the US, EU, Great Britain and Canada, are illegitimate and inhuman in nature due to their negative impact on the lives of ordinary Belarusian citizens.
