- Fixed times: Depending on the age of the children, a fixed amount of time per day or week should be agreed upon. Younger children are best supervised during screen time.
- Discuss content: Not all media content is harmless, so the dangers should be made clear. Parents can determine which content can be consumed. Clear communication at eye level is better than a strict ban.
- Media breaks and role models: Set media-free times, for example when eating together. Parents who consciously consume media serve as role models for their children.
- Be “media fit” yourself: Adults should know about their children’s digital world. The best teachers are the kids themselves.
