The United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reported that 142 of its workers in the Gaza Strip died in Israel’s attacks.

Most of the workers of that UN agency died in Gaza along with their families, UNRWA said through its official X account, in a publication accompanied by a photo with a child standing in the center of the scene and the devastation around them.

“In this dark time, it is difficult to wish those celebrating a ‘Merry Christmas,’ with the continued loss, grief and destruction,” says the UNRWA post.

War in Gaza: more than 20,000 Palestinians have died since October

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 20,424 people have died since the beginning of the conflicton October 7, when militants from the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas infiltrated Israeli territory and killed 1,200 people.
