Lacalle Pou’s trip to Antarctica caused a strong disagreement between the Broad Front and the Coalition

President Luis Lacalle Pou traveled to the Antarctica with his children at the beginning of last week and the situation did not go unnoticed by the Broad Front, from where they presented a request for reports about the Uruguayan delegation that traveled to the white continent.

The measure was first questioned by Lacalle Pou, who after his return, when asked at a press conference, responded that “it is clear that they do not have time for anything else,” while the Minister of Defense, Javier García, admitted today that he will present the data from this mission and the previous ones, noting that “it may also be of interest who traveled in the 15 years of the FA”.

Garcia confirmed that he asked Antarctic Institute “all the background of those who traveled to the Antarctica from 2005 to date” and added: “I think that this information will help the person asking the question have all the necessary information.”

At the same time, he highlighted “the transparency” of this government and noted: “If the intention is not minor and small, something that I rule out, I think you may be interested in the 15 years of the Broad Front. A lot of people have come, I think it will contribute to transparency.”

When asked about the presence of the children of Lacalle Pou and possible additional expenses due to logistical issues, the leader indicated: “I don’t have that account.” And he countered that the request for reports seeks to “account for everything.”

The response of the Broad Front

The FA deputy who made the request for reports, Sebastian Valdomir, first questioned the criticism of Lacalle Pou and ironically through his X account (exTwitter): “Excuse me, King Louis, “I didn’t ask him before how I can use my time.”

Then, it was dispatched against Garcia pointing out that “while the public security crisis worsens day by day and drugs enter everywhere, the Minister of Defense wastes time and wants to answer what I did not ask him.”

“It is very simple: list of members of the last delegation to the Antarctica, positions and objectives,” concluded the legislator. Furthermore, in dialogue with Nada que Perder he stated that “there is a disproportion between the proposal and the measure that shows a bad mood and significant discomfort.”

The mayor of Salto and Frente Amplio pre-candidate spoke along the same lines, Andres Lima, by stating that there were 8 homicides in recent days and adding: “What is the priority of the President Lacalle Pou?: Know her Antarctica with their children.”
