Investigations are currently underway against unknown perpetrators on suspicion of property damage caused by fire. A connection with the current threat situation can currently be ruled out, the police said at the request of the Austria Press Agency (APA). The fire team of the Vienna State Criminal Police Office was informed about the incident.
After the arrest of three terrorist suspects, increased security measures were taken by the executive branch in recent days. The two men and the woman are said to belong to a cross-country radical Islamist terror network that is said to have considered attacks on Cologne Cathedral and St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
