The president of the Union of Exporters of Uruguay (UEU), Facundo Marquezassured that the Uruguay “should study” what measures taken by the government of Javier Milei in Argentina could be replicated in the country. “We have to take note and see what is viable, especially some linked to the elimination of bureaucracyor the duplication of procedures,” he said.
Márquez pointed to Ambit that the measures taken by the Milei government “are going in the right direction”, although there are still important issues pending such as the way in which payments will be made from now on with the debts contracted by the country with Uruguayan exporters.
“What is coming out is what was delayed months ago, new exports have not yet been executed,” clarified Márquez, who added that this has been happening since Milei won the elections. “Even the outgoing government began to accelerate the matter, as a result of the change of political sign that was coming,” he pointed out.
According to the president of the Uruguayan exporters, the elimination of SIRA “take out the discretion of the middle, which was a huge obstacle” for exporters. However, he considered that there are measures “that are not one hundred percent clear in their future application,” although he defined the announced changes as “notorious.”
