“There is still a lack of one billion per year for the expansion of children’s educational institutions and the legal right to a free, all-day children’s education place from the age of one,” says Holzleitner. Fresh money was announced by the Chancellor in the summer talks, but the corresponding 4.5 billion euros are based in part only on lip service, which is neither reflected in the budget nor in the financial equalization.

“The turbocharged approach to children’s education announced by the federal government is slow motion,” criticizes Holzleitner. In order for women and men to be able to work full-time, the range of children’s education available must be expanded across Austria, said the SP women’s leader.
