The MTOP will close the current year with an investment of 1,002 million dollars, meaning this is a record figure, as confirmed to the press this Wednesday by the undersecretary of the portfolio, Juan José Olaizola.


In 2022, the money allocated for the execution of road works was 812 million dollars, that is, 190 million dollars less than what was allocated in the 2023 items, where the double lane of Route 5 stands out, from kilometer 43 until the peach citythe double track on routes 8 and 9, until the Rocha cityand the work carried out on Route 6, south of the Black river.
Olaizola He also highlighted the highway project that will link the interspa route, at the height of the Carrasco International Airport (Canelones)and route 8, which “will be double track and will allow a speed higher than usual on national routes,” according to the leader.
Likewise, he announced that next year the tender will be opened to build an interchange on routes 101 and 102, being the first in the country to have three levels.
The MTOP allocated more than 5 million dollars to works in institutions
The government portfolio also allocated some 5.5 million dollars to the Social Agreements program, implemented by the National Directorate of Architecture of the MTOP, which “spends resources from all Uruguayans to be able to collaborate with institutions throughout the country,” according to Olaizola.
The undersecretary highlighted that “this aid from the ministry allows institutions to access new and renovation works in their facilities” and reported that during 2023 there was a jump in agreements compared to the previous year, since they went from 74 agreements to more than 110.
