The approaching turn of the year marks the beginning of a time of reflection and departure for new shores for many. New Year’s resolutions are made and visions of a healthier, more conscious life emerge. But all too often the initial enthusiasm evaporates and the goals set lose focus, says Günter Hagauer, social psychologist and professional hypnosis coach from the team at the “VitaLogikum” therapy center in Aschach.
“At a time when mental health is becoming more important, many people are faced with the challenge of finding psychological support,” says Hagauer: In this spiral of self-improvement, the art of hypnosis could serve as an alternative.
“Loneliness is a ubiquitous phenomenon that not only affects older people, but is also increasingly present in younger generations,” says the hypnosis coach, “the lack of social contacts and deeper interpersonal connections can affect not only psychological but also physical health “. In times when the need for psychological support is increasing, many are faced with the dilemma of a lack of psychologists and almost insurmountable waiting times. Hypnosis could build a bridge here. Individual causes of loneliness can be identified and worked on in the sessions. The hypnotic state makes it possible to release deep emotional blockages and establish new thought patterns that promote positive social interaction.
There is also support with regard to New Year’s resolutions: internal blockages and resistance to change are overcome more easily. “Weight loss is a classic goal at the beginning of the year,” says Hagauer, “in the hypnotic trance, underlying causes for overeating or lack of exercise can be uncovered and worked on.” The subconscious is being reprogrammed. Smoking cessation is also a common concern. By learning profound relaxation techniques, stress levels are permanently reduced. Strengthened mental resilience forms the basis for pursuing New Year’s resolutions with inner calm and determination.
