The stage has been set up in the Timelkam parish church since yesterday, the premiere will take place on February 16th, and online ticket sales will begin one week from today (www.sjb.at). Friends of the St.-Josefs-Bühne Timelkam should secure tickets quickly: The 42-year-old amateur theater group is bringing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar” to the stage this year, and one can assume that all twelve performances will be sold out.
It’s a return for the theater association: “We played the piece back in 2001, and since then there have been repeated requests as to whether we could put it on stage again,” says chairman Andreas Krautschneider. And because the musical tells of the last days of Jesus, it was decided to stage it in the church.
The St.-Josefs-Bühne, which appeared before the public for the first time in 1981 with a typical rural panache and developed ever more sophisticated productions in the years that followed, is pulling out all the stops this time. 60 actors and singers can be seen, accompanied by a 30-member musical ensemble. Nice detail on the side: Sebastian Fitzinger, who took on the role of Jesus in 2001, can be seen this time as governor Pontius Pilate and has thus changed sides in the passion story. (ebra)
