Continuously increasing student numbers have made this step necessary, agree State Governor Thomas Stelzer and Agricultural State Councilor Michaela Langer-Weninger (both VP). The state of Upper Austria is investing 264,000 in the expansion of the agricultural vocational and technical school (LWBFS) in Otterbach (municipality of Sankt Florian am Inn). Stelzer and Langer-Weninger recently announced this in a broadcast.
The practice-oriented school with a focus on agriculture has earned an excellent reputation over the past decades, particularly in the training focus on “cattle husbandry”. In addition to practical training, students are also taught the areas of crop cultivation, forestry and the use of agricultural machinery. A concept that has been very well received in recent years and has now resulted in structural expansions. The last general renovation was completed in 2006. “The space available was simply no longer sufficient for the current number of students,” says State Councilor Langer-Weninger.
The school will therefore now receive two additional group rooms, which will be added to the existing building. This investment sends a clear signal for strengthening regional agriculture and promoting practical learning, said Governor Stelzer.
