VisaGuide published its index of the best countries for digital nomads, including Uruguay accompanied by other countries Europe, Latin America and Asia.
The ranking uses a unique scoring system to rate countries based on seven factors. The first of them is the availability of an active visa, the second is the speed of the internet, while the third belongs to the tax policies and free duration of taxes.
On the other hand, income requirements are taken into account for applications for visa, he cost of living – measured in euros -, the score of global health and the tourist popularity. Meanwhile, the score has a maximum of 4.5.
The best five countries for digital nomads
The first place is occupied by Spain with the maximum score of 4.50. Remote workers can pay a reduced tax rate of 15% instead of the usual 24%, while the cost of living is around 673 euros. The second place is occupied by Argentina with a score of 3.78 and with the tax-free visa period. Meanwhile, the cost of living is approximately 418 euros.
Third place is occupied by Romania with a score of 3.74 and zero taxes for digital nomads. The United Arab Emirates is in fourth place with a score of 3.65 but with a cost of living of 917 euros. Fifth place was obtained by Croatia with a score of 3.62 and a cost of living of 686 euros.
Uruguay among the ten best
The seventh place is occupied by Uruguay, just below Portugal and above Malt. According to the index, the country has a score of 3.55 and the cost of living is around 812 euros.

The government’s plan to attract digital nomads
