The Gmundner Swans’ best player is back – but in Kapfenberg
Urald King will play against Gmunden for the first time on January 14th.

Away win at BC Vienna, hard-fought victory in the derby against Wels: The Gmundner Swans grew their wings again in time. Because tomorrow, at 5:30 p.m., something like a must-win awaits in the first of two consecutive home games. Latecomer Eisenstadt is visiting Gmunden and should not be a problem any more than the Vienna Timberwolves, who will travel to Lake Traunsee on January 4th.

The Swans have already enjoyed significant success against both teams this season (97:75 against Eisenstadt, 90:71 in Vienna).

However, the number one topic of conversation at the moment is a man who said goodbye to Gmunden this year. Urald King, the best player of the past season, could not be retained and – after a short stint in Israel – played for KB Peja in Kosovo. From today he will start training again in Austria, the Capital Bulls from Kapfenberg announced the center’s “sensational signing”. And this despite the fact that the Styrian Bulls have the same main sponsor as the Gmundner Swans, OCS.

However, the Bulls only managed to pull off the “really big coup,” as the Kapfenbergers describe it, because Vice President Gerhard Horak (who also once worked for the Swans) helped out with his company. “Kapfenberg pays a fortune, we can’t afford that. We have a salary scale and experienced Austrian national players,” says Swans finance director Harald Stelzer.

According to reports, King collects twice as much in Kapfenberg as he did in Gmunden last year. In any case, things will be exciting on January 14th: Then King comes to Gmunden with Kapfenberg.
