It was Saturday around 11.30 a.m. when the 29-year-old drove with two men from Linz on the B148, the Altheimer Bundesstraße, from Obernberg am Inn towards Braunau. For reasons that are not yet clear, the woman from Linz drove her car into the soggy ground next to the road. She then crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed head-on into the car of a 73-year-old from the Braunau district.
The 36-year-old passenger of the Linzer woman was seriously injured in the collision. However, he was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed from the vehicle by the fire department before he could be flown to the hospital by the rescue helicopter.
The second passenger – a 37-year-old from Linz – as well as the 73-year-old and the 29-year-old were able to get out of the accident cars themselves. They were given first aid by the rescue team and taken to hospital with injuries of an unspecified degree.
The vehicles were totaled.
