The 47-year-old woman and the 44-year-old man left around 3 p.m. and were walking along the B 130 Nibelungenstraße Hinterberg. Poorly equipped and without lamps, they lost their orientation in the steep terrain on the poorly paved path. At around 5:40 p.m. the two Germans made an emergency call.

Officers from the Neukirchen am Walde police station searched for the lost hikers. They turned on the police car’s blue lights, whereupon screams for help could be heard from the embankment.

The police officers descended on the exhausted hikers and rescued them from their predicament. The woman and man were safely returned to their car.
