In 2023, around 84,000 tonnes of waste was generated in the Linz urban area, which was disposed of by the employees of Linz AG waste. This includes residual, organic and bulky waste as well as waste paper and packaging such as lightweight, glass and metal packaging. This also includes non-packaging metals and waste wood.
80 garbage trucks in use
65 of Linz AG’s 80 garbage trucks are used for disposal every day and empty the more than 63,000 waste containers set up. There are also 380 waste collection points and four waste collection centers in the city. 190 employees work in this area.
Electricity for 30,000 households
Residual and bulky waste is burned, supplying around 30,000 households with electricity and around 20,000 households with district heating. Fertile humus or biogas is created from organic waste.
Waste app from Linz AG
A new service from Linz AG, the waste app, has been available since autumn. It includes a waste calendar with a reminder function, a waste ABC as a reference work and current information.
