Survivors of Hamas attack sue security forces

A group of survivors of the Hamas terrorist group’s October 7 attack in Israel sued Israeli security forces yesterday for $56 million.

In the first civil lawsuit of its kind, 42 survivors injured in the rave massacre Supernova sued the Israeli Armed Forces, the Shin Bet (security forces) and the Police for “incomprehensible negligence,” arguing that the act It could have been prevented long in advance, and they are demanding compensation of 56 million dollars. The plaintiffs allege that all security forces failed in their duties in multiple instances.

“A simple phone call from security force officers to those responsible for guarding the party to disperse immediately in view of the danger that lurked would have saved lives and prevented the physical and mental injuries of hundreds of partygoers, even to the injured,” the court filing says.

“The negligence and serious error are incredible,” adds the text, cited by The Times of Israel newspaper.

The claim includes loss of earnings, pain and suffering, loss of life’s pleasures, loss of future earnings, and medical expenses. The lawsuit cited reports after the massacre that senior officials in the Gaza Division expressed concern about the party, and that the operations commander opposed it.

It also noted that the head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, held consultations the night before, and even sent a special operations team to the border before the onslaught. Survivors claimed that security forces did not provide adequate guard for the event, as many soldiers were off duty, and expressed disbelief that, despite fears among security officials that a riot could break out, day of confrontations, no immediate order was given to disperse the event.
