The time has come: the 2021/22 winter season starts tomorrow on the Sternstein in Bad Leonfelden. For the time being, the ski lift slope and the family slope are open, the standard slope will be released in the next few days if the weather permits.
Floodlit touring will be possible from Tuesday, December 14th. During the operating hours (8.30 a.m. – 4.15 p.m.) the ascent track can be used from tomorrow. Michael Eggner-Schwarz from the Kunterbunt ski school in Kirchschlag is also looking forward to tomorrow’s season start. He has prepared his own children’s area in the best possible way and can teach beginners and slightly more advanced learners. Of course, please register at 0660/30 23 655 or michael@schischule-kunterbunt.at. The Kirchschlager ski lifts will most likely not open until December 17th. One day later they want to start the season at the Hansberg in St. Johann.
Hochficht will follow on Saturday
Thanks to the cool weather, the snow cannons on the Hochficht also diligently provided the coveted surface for skiing fun. “We start the winter season on December 11th as planned,” says the OÖN request on the snow phone.
The necessary additional Covid controls bring major challenges this year. Our own safety concepts apply in all ski areas. Because according to current guidelines, skiing is only possible if the 2G rule is complied with. Anyone with digital green passports will be able to complete the necessary formalities online in advance, for example at Hochficht, so that there are no waiting times at the checkout. This will also be possible at the ticket machine.
But even those who only have their vaccination or recovery certificate in paper form can get help at the cash registers. Of course, there can be waiting times.
In the gondolas and in the waiting areas in front of the lifts, an FFP2 mask will also be required.
Viehberg starts on December 17th
On the weekend from December 17th to 19th, it’s that time again in Sandl. The three 900 meter long, natural slopes are opened at the “Viehbergerwachen”. Georg Temper, lift attendant and chairman of the Schorschi lift in St. Georgen / W., Is also looking forward to the start of the season before Christmas: “We won’t run out this weekend. But we are very confident for the 18th,” he says on OÖN request. The Covid rules naturally also apply in the smaller ski areas.
