According to media reports, Rendi-Wagner has “good chances of winning the race”. The decision should be made in the first quarter of this year. For the top EU job in the European Health Authority in Stockholm, Rendi-Wagner is supported by the federal government, especially by Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) and Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens).
This was confirmed at the Foreign Ministry in Vienna: “Together with the Ministry of Health, we of course support Dr. Rendi-Wagner’s candidacy. As a former Health Minister and ECDC board member and due to her relevant medical training, she is ideally suited for this position,” it said from the Foreign Ministry.
