The Gmunden artist Sigrid Reingruber died completely unexpectedly on December 23rd at the age of 43 during a stay in Thailand. Reingruber has worked in the Lebenshilfe art workshop in Gmunden since 1996. The mentally impaired painter developed into a well-known artist there.
In 2010 she received the European Art Prize “Euward”, one of the highest international awards for artistic creation. In 2018 she was nominated for the art prize a second time. Her works are represented in Arnulf Rainer’s art collection, among others. “They touch you through their extraordinary intensity and through their intensive and differentiated language,” says Ferdinand Reisenbichler, the now retired director of the art workshop.
