“If the government doesn’t act to protect our livelihoods, then it should do it to save tourism in Tyrol,” said the activists.

Two of the four demonstrators clung to the street with one hand each, said a police spokeswoman. After around an hour, the unannounced protest was ended by officers. As could be seen on video footage, the officers provided the activists who were sitting on the asphalt in light snow with emergency blankets. “We experienced the operation as extremely respectful and correct,” reported the “Last Generation” on X (formerly Twitter).

The activists – a 22-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 22-year-old (all Austrians) as well as a 22-year-old German – were reported to the Landeck district administration, it was said. The executive had set up a local diversion, which meant there were only minor traffic disruptions.

The “Last Generation” demanded that the government implement the recommendations of the Climate Council. If not “to protect our livelihoods, then perhaps it should do it to save tourism in Tyrol,” it was announced.
