Obstetric care and aftercare for mothers have been expanded with new offerings. Among other things, the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Klinikum (PEK) Steyr has been offering acupuncture for pregnant women since last year and women with a planned cesarean section receive follow-up care from midwives.
In 2023, 957 babies made their first cry at the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr, of which 473 were girls and 484 were boys. The number of births has therefore fallen slightly. (In 2022, 1,018 babies were born at PEK Steyr.) The day with the highest number of births in 2023 was Thursday, January 12th. On this day, nine babies came into the world.
Last year, 462 babies were born at PEK Kirchdorf. The balance remains relatively stable with 511 babies in 2022. One in five women giving birth in the region gave birth to their baby in water. This makes the Kirchdorf Clinic one of the leading hospitals for water births. After a six-month renovation phase, the new delivery room area with two new maternity tubs, a terrace and modern rooms can be opened in the next few weeks.
