Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba believes that the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, will not achieve any breakthroughs at the talks.
“I think that tomorrow (December 7 – Ed.) Each country will declare its, let’s say, maximalist visions and logic of further actions, and then different teams will work on how the situation will develop further,” Kuleba said in on the air of the ICTV channel.
He suggested that Biden would send a signal to Russia on what Kiev’s partners would do in the event of a “military operation” against Ukraine.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also confirmed that after the talks between the American and Russian presidents, a telephone conversation between Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will take place.
Dmitry Kuleba believes that Ukraine needs a “comprehensive package of containing Russia.” According to him, it should include three elements: “political communication with Russia”, potential economic sanctions against the Russian side and “systemic assistance to each country” to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses.
On December 7, an online summit of the Russian Federation and the United States will take place. Putin and Biden will discuss Ukraine, NATO’s eastward expansion and the international agenda. The talks will take place against the backdrop of numerous media reports about the allegedly impending Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The topics of the talks will be Ukraine and the increased activity of NATO. The parties will also discuss Afghanistan, consider topics on the international agenda. The conversation will touch upon the issue of bilateral relations, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached during the previous meeting in Geneva.

The Ukrainian leader confirmed the information about the talks with Blinken before the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden on his Twitter. According to him, Kiev and Washington agreed to act in coordination.
