On Saturday night, a 27-year-old from Aspach in the Braunau district suffered severe carbon monoxide poisoning in her home. The gas escaped from a gas boiler due to a defect in the exhaust system and spread throughout the building.

Her 26-year-old boyfriend found the woman unconscious in bed at 6:40 a.m. and alerted the emergency services. The woman was taken to hospital in Linz with severe carbon monoxide poisoning. She had to be treated in a pressure chamber. The next such facility that was free was in Graz. The 26-year-old was brought there by helicopter. She is still undergoing treatment.
