The former restaurant “Ofenloch” in the heart of the district town has already seen a number of restaurateurs come and go, which was run by various operators over the years and was later known as “Kellerwerk”, “Bon Appetit” and finally as “Weberbartl”. , which was run by the owner Augustin Spiegelfeld himself for a while.

Since the beginning of the year, the restaurant on Roßmarkt has been an Italian restaurant. The opening was celebrated on January 3rd, with Mayor Maria Pachner among others. The restaurant with the idyllic guest garden and the beautiful vaulted interior is run by two families who are friends, Salvatore and Sandra Privitera and Luigi and Maria Lorenzo. Both couples already run a restaurant. Salvatore, who comes from Catania in Sicily, runs the restaurant and pizzeria “Il Padrino” in Peuerbach with his wife and Luigi, who comes from Tropea in the southern Italian region of Calabria, runs the restaurant “Sale e Pepe” in Bad with his wife Maria Schallerbach. Their second mainstay now also bears the name “Il Padrino”, the godfather.

Fresh fish from northern Italy

Luigi Lorenzo is responsible for the service, Salvatore Privitera is in charge in the kitchen. “Fish dishes are my specialty, there are dishes from Calabria and Sicily, of course homemade pasta and pizzas,” says the chef. The fish are delivered from northern Italy twice a week. On his days off, he sometimes goes to the sea to fish.

Salvatore is proud that he has been able to prepare some of his specialties in front of the camera a few times on ORF, for example a pasta with clams and oysters, sea bream fillets with a sauce made from capers and olives and a tortino, a small vegetable cake with anchovies and special cheese sauce . The contributions helped to increase his awareness.

The two Italians can rely on their family. While many restaurateurs have restricted their opening hours due to a lack of staff, “Il Padrino” is only closed on Mondays. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
