Away fan’s scarf “plucked”: 6 months conditionally for LASK supporters

It was on May 14, 2023 in Linz. Red Bull had won 0-1 away against Lask when there were unpleasant scenes at the main train station. Several Linz supporters, who according to the prosecution have not yet been investigated, are said to have surrounded a 36-year-old Salzburg supporter.

The 22-year-old accused then asked the victim to hand over his scarf. “otherwise I’ll knock you out”. According to the prosecution, there was also an assault. With two to three jerking movements, the young man snatched the textile from the 36-year-old, leaving the victim with minor injuries to three fingers on his right hand.

A weapon was never involved, it was said. Which is why the punishment range in this case was six months to five years in prison. The jury decided on a conditional prison sentence of six months; the probationary period, during which the 22-year-old is not allowed to commit any wrongdoing, was set by the court at three years. The judgment is already legally binding.

By the way, Salzburg’s fan scarf was purple “Anniversary scarf”whose monetary value was stated in the indictment at 20 euros.
