Friedrich Pichler taught religion and history at the HTBLA Hallstatt for 27 years and has also volunteered in the parish since 1988. He died unexpectedly on January 1st at the age of 70 in the Salzburg State Hospital. Yesterday there was a prayer for Pichler in the Hallstatt parish church, and today the funeral service will take place.
Friedrich Pichler, born in Hohenems in Vorarlberg, studied theology and history in Innsbruck before moving to Upper Austria both privately and professionally.
On June 4, 1992, he was ordained a permanent deacon and has since worked in pastoral care in the Hallstatt parish. In addition to a wide range of diaconal activities, the pilgrimages to Rome that he regularly organized and led were particularly popular.
