At minus three degrees, the SV Guntamatic Ried footballers started their preparations for the spring season on Monday afternoon on the artificial turf pitch in the Klaus Roitinger Stadium. Some players who were absent yesterday due to illness will join the team in the coming days.
Ante Bajic was there “old acquaintance”. The 28-year-old is back at SV Ried after a year and a half. “Of course it feels very familiar, but yet special. I was well received by the team. I’m happy to be here again”said Bajic, who clearly formulated the medium-term goal: “We all know where we’re going, the Bundesliga, because Ried belongs there. But we have to stay down to earth, the development is right. I hope that I can immediately help the team to continue the successful run from the autumn.”
“Build up pressure”
Bajic is still hoping for an exciting spring despite being eight points behind league leaders GAK: “Eight points sounds like a lot, but in football it can happen quickly. We have to win our games to build up the pressure, then we’ll see”said Bajic.
Continue to grow together
For coach Maximilian Senft it has “Further development of your own game idea” top priority. “We also want to grow even further together as a team”says Senft. Several players are ready to take on more and more responsibility. The 34-year-old is pleased with the mood around the club. “I believe that as a club, including all fans, we have taken a big step together. It was a difficult start and we had to take some punishment. With the support of the fans, we worked our way out of this together.”

Left-back wanted
With the transfer of Bajic, the search for offensive reinforcements has been completed, according to sports director Wolfgang Fiala. Things look different on the left side of defense. Due to Philipp Pomer’s injury, there is still a need for action here.
It can be assumed that the club will part with one or two players in the coming weeks. According to OÖN information, both Nikola Stosic and Marc Andre Schmerböck are no longer likely to play a major role in the sporting plans.
