Cuba will quintuple the price of special gasoline starting February 1. It will open specific stations where you can pay with dollars.
Cuba will increase the retail value of its special gasoline, 94 octane, from 30 to 156 pesos per liter as of February 1, the Minister of Finance and Prices, Vladimir Regueiro, announced on Monday.
The official said that the five-fold increase in one of the fuels most used by motorists is necessary to ensure supply, in the context of an acute economic crisis.
The country will also open 29 service centers to sell gasoline exclusively in dollars, with which it seeks to obtain foreign currency to buy fuel in the international market.
