They never tire of helping: the students and members of the ARGE school partnership at HTL Braunau. The people from Braunau are in regular contact with two partner schools and help where necessary: with the IPLS León in Nicaragua and the Brother Konrad School in Lira, Uganda. At the beginning of the year, the team around chairwoman Birgit Falkner looked back on an eventful 2023.
“After one and a half years as chair of the school partnership, I feel comfortable in this role and am pleased that we were able to carry out a number of projects and activities last year,” she says.

Finally Nicaragua again
The greatest joy was that Nicaragua has come closer in three ways: two teachers from the IPLS visited Braunau, after a six-year break, a tour group from the HTL set off to Nicaragua again in the summer, and Leo Silberhumer has been working there as a civil servant abroad since September. The political circumstances, but especially Corona, had led to the interruption of trips to Nicaragua.
There was also great joy about the Eduard Ploier Prize, which the ARGE school partnership was able to accept in May. Chairwoman Birgit Falkner and director Gerda Schneeberger as well as Sebastian Köpfle were thanked for their commitment by Governor Thomas Stelzer and Bishop Manfred Scheuer.

The past year was busy in Uganda: the reforestation project was expanded, another school in Busano was equipped with a carpentry workshop, and the Brother Konrad School was also improved. Caroline Namie from Uganda traveled to Braunau in June and visited the HTL. “I am grateful that development cooperation at the HTL Braunau is not just discussed in class, but is actually lived through the activities of the ARGE school partnership,” says director Gerda Schneeberger. This year the ARGE school partnership is celebrating its 30th anniversary. You can still help with donations in kind and money.
