Difficult conditions in the special tests on Sunday

Dry roads at the start, rain on Saturday and snowy roads on the special stages on Sunday: the participants in the January rally in the Mühlviertel had to contend with rapidly changing conditions. Co-driver legend Sigi Schwarz from Steyrling sat next to Kris Rosenberger in a VW Polo R5 GTI and safely navigated the veteran through the rally. In the end it was enough for ninth place and the desired top ten place.

“We were only four seconds away from seventh place,” Schwarz complained a bit about the lack of luck in seconds. What made things even more difficult for the veterans was that, as tenth place in the intermediate rankings, they started the race first in all special stages on Sunday and therefore had to play snow plow. In some places there was 15 to 20 centimeters of snow on the track, and an ideal line was just as unclear as the “abschneider”, known in English as “cuts”. “Thanks to Raimund Baumschlager as an ice spy, we were very good tactically,” said Rosenberger, who took a lot of risks.
