On Epiphany, the SPÖ Ried city party organized this year’s charity swimming in the leisure pool. For every length swum, 20 cents were donated to the Rieder Children’s and Youth Protection Center (RIKI). In the three hours, the many participants swam a total of 5,048 lengths, or around 126 kilometers. This meant that an amount of 1009 euros could be achieved.
Several supporters increased this amount to a final sum of 1,500 euros. “I am overwhelmed. Our charity swimming has been an integral part of Ried’s sports year for many years, but the number of participants and their swimming achievements in this year’s charity swimming have eclipsed everything that has come before,” said Ried’s SPÖ sports councilor Sebastian Forstner.
