“If someone else were in the government, he would have placed people linked to his ideology in the labor courts, but I took care of putting people who defend the other side,” said Bolsonaro.
As part of the search for support for his re-election in the October 2022 elections, Bolsonaro defended the business community as the main engine of the economy and lashed out at labor legislation and even the supervision of working conditions in the countryside.
“How hard it is to be a boss in Brazil, I know what that is like,” said Bolsonaro, who for three decades has been in political activity as a councilor and deputy after having dissociated himself due to indiscipline as captain of the Army.
According to Bolsonaro, “the salary is low for those who receive it and a lot for those who pay it.”
“From the beginning of my government with my ministers we decided to make life easier for businessmen. You do not owe us any favors, we are the ones who owe you favors, you are the job creators,” said the president of far right, applauded by the audience.
Bolsonaro said that in his administration the State employs when it opens a call for a public tender or creates commissioners, but, instead, “the one who creates the mass of employees that generates wealth in Brazil is you, the businessmen.”
The Bolsonaro government has failed in two initiatives in Congress to reduce labor rights, such as not paying workers who do it on Sundays as an extra.
The country carried out the largest labor reform in 2017 in the government of Michel Temer creating the figure of intermittent legal work, which is when the employer can alter work hours and wages without the chance that the conflict will be settled in court.
The head of the CNI, Robson Andrade, in his speech asked Bolsonaro to speed up the approval of the tax reform to reduce the tax burden of the sector.
“That can be his legacy and that of Congress for Brazilians,” said the industrialist.
