Some of the region’s top talents will be playing tricks again in the Steyr town hall in a week: USV St. Ulrich is inviting players to the Jako indoor football junior tournament for the seventh time. Over three days from January 19th to 21st, 56 teams in seven age groups from U8 to U14 will show off their football skills with almost 800 children.
“The special flair of this tournament is that the young players can feel like the big ones here,” says tournament director Alexander Kubizek from USV St. Ulrich. “We also offer a VIP club for children and trainers, as well as support from physiotherapists There are trophies and prizes for each player for the top three in each age group, as well as a small recognition for everyone from fourth to eighth place. Just taking part in this largest tournament for young teams is an experience for every single one of them.”
The importance of the youth cup is also reflected in the fact that Upper Austria’s top clubs are taking part with their talents. LASK, Ried and Vorwärts Steyr have each named several age groups. And that wasn’t actually that easy, as Kubizek makes clear: “The starting places for this year’s tournament were completely taken after just twelve hours. Unfortunately, we were far from able to take the wishes of all the clubs into account.”
1500 spectators over three days
More than eight teams per age group were not possible due to the tight time frame. You can now guarantee that there will be no idle times or unnecessary waiting times, and the approximately 1,500 spectators in the town hall, many of whom are relatives and friends of the players, will also get their money’s worth: every single team is in at least four to A maximum of six games can be seen.
The importance of this tournament in the sports city of Steyr can be seen from the guests of honor: Mayor Markus Vogl and sports city councilor Christian Baumgarten have announced their coming, as have representatives of the two main sponsors Jako and Teamsport Steyr.
This year too, the youth cup is collecting money for a good cause: every goal scored is worth one euro, the total amount will be rounded up by the organizers and donated to the Red Cross.
