By 2018, a total of 39 referendums had been launched. The one against the conference center received the most signatures in 1982: it was signed by 1,361,562 people.
Between 2018 and the end of 2023, 53 referendums were held. The corona pandemic and mandatory vaccinations in particular led to a rapid increase. 14 further referendums are already planned for March this year.
Of course, the popularity has decreased. While the requests were supported by an average of 400,000 people up to 2018, the number was 191,000 in the following period. Since 2018, the non-smoking referendum has been the most successful with 881,692 votes.
