The most beautiful ball gowns are brought out again, tuxedos and suits are prepared – next weekend, Upper Austria starts this year’s ball season with the CV Ball, which has numerous highlights in store for its guests.
One of these this year is the Gala Night of Sports in Linz’s Brucknerhaus, organized by OÖNachrichten. Active and former top athletes in the country come together at this ball event, which has already established itself as a fixture in Upper Austria’s social life in recent years.
In addition to numerous musicians – such as the ptart orchestra, LEMO as a midnight performance, the concert by “Hoamspü” and DJ 2:tages:bart – the young talents of the Linz dance group TopMoves are once again represented at the gala night and will perform at the opening 8 p.m. their skills on stage. The BORG Linz students present gymnastics, acrobatics and dance performances in the foyer and panorama foyer.
Feelings of life while dancing
For the professionals at TopMoves, the gala night of sports has become an important date in the calendar, which always sparks enthusiasm among the dancers, says director Markus Beredits. “With the opening show we try to appeal to the emotions of the visitors: at the beginning we show the elegance and lightness of dancing, then we switch and express the pure attitude to life in dance with urban dance.” A highlight for the dancers is the finale, where several different dance styles can be seen on stage at the same time.
The preparations of the approximately 15 dancers are already underway and the overall rehearsals and the fine work on the choreography will soon begin. “Two to three training sessions are completed per week, plus intensive weekend rehearsals. In total, we expect a rehearsal time of 20 hours per dancer,” says Beredits. What makes the gala night so appealing for TopMoves? “There are few comparable events that enliven the Brucknerhaus in such a way. It is the ideal mix of ball, gala with event character.”

The 101st CV Ball is taking place in the Palais this year under the motto “A celebration for Europe”.

With “Alla valser” the country of Sweden and a touch of Scandinavia dominate the KV ball night in the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein this year. Ball ticket (online): 105 euros, starts at 7.30 p.m
- February 3, 2024: Wels City Ball
On February 3rd, the Welser Stadtball, one of the largest charity balls in Upper Austria, will take place at the Greif city theater in Wels. Ball ticket (online): 42.50 euros, start: 8 p.m

- February 10, 2024: Pirate Ball

- February 12, 2024: Police Ball
Traditionally, the 71st Police Ball takes place in the Brucknerhaus in Linz on Rose Monday. The opening will be organized by course participants from SIAK (education center of the Upper Austrian Security Executive). Ball ticket (online): 29.70 euros, start: 8 p.m
- April 27, 2024: Linzer Tortenball
This year’s Linzer Tortenball takes place as a spring ball in the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein. It’s not just dancing the night away, sweet delicacies are also waiting for the ball guests. Ball tickets are available from the Horn Dance School. Start: 7.30 p.m
