The rare liposarcoma was diagnosed by the oncology team of general surgery at the “Giovanni Paolo II” Tumor Institute. in Bari, Italian media reported on Friday. It was removed in a complicated operation that lasted four hours. “It is a rare case of oncological surgery that required a high level of experience in clinical-surgical management, as the tumor mass occupied the entire abdominal cavity and extended into the left kidney, left colon, left pancreas, uterine appendages and partially the diaphragm had penetrated,” explained the general director of the Oncology Institute, Alessandro Delle Donne.
