Putin pointed out to Biden about Kiev’s attempts to intensify the offensive on the Russian language

Russian President Vladimir Putin drew the attention of his American counterpart Joe Biden to the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities to oppress the Russian language. Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told the journalists on December 7 at a briefing following the Russia-US summit.

“Of course, Ukraine took a very long time. Our president informed in sufficient detail about how Kiev is not fulfilling the Minsk agreements. (…) Then he mentioned the bill, which seem to intensify the offensive against the Russian language, ”Ushakov noted.

According to him, then the conversation turned to the militarization of Ukraine. Vladimir Putin mentioned the growth of aggressive nationalist sentiments on Ukrainian territory, which are supported by the West and the United States.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Joe Biden on the evening of Tuesday, December 7, held talks behind closed doors via a secure video link. The conversation lasted two hours.

In particular, the politicians exchanged views on the topic of Ukraine. Putin, in particular, “illustrated with specific examples the destructive line of Kiev, aimed at the complete dismantling of the Minsk agreements and agreements reached in the Normandy format.”

Also, the Russian leader expressed concern about Kiev’s provocative actions against Donbass. In addition, during the conversation, the heads of state discussed NATO’s eastward expansion, the international agenda, and bilateral relations.

During the talks, Joe Biden told his Russian counterpart about the concern of Washington and European allies about the alleged increase in the Russian military presence near the borders of Ukraine. The White House argued that the American head made it clear to Putin that the United States and its allies would respond with decisive economic and other measures in the event of a military escalation.

On December 6, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin sees clearly aggressive rhetoric of the West about Ukraine and media stuffing about the allegedly planned Russian invasion of this country. According to him, tension in Ukraine can be removed only by receiving a guarantee that Kiev has abandoned a possible solution to the problem of Donbass by force.
