The Union Compact Freistadt did not disappoint its loyal fans. The fistball players from the Mühlviertel reached the “final at home” in the Indoor Champions Cup. Jean Andrioli & Co. defeated the aging Swiss champion Diepoldsau-Schmitter 4-0 (11:8, 11:7, 12:10, 11:6) in the semi-finals. Previously, top favorite and defending champion Pfungstadt had also clearly won the all-German duel with TV GH Brettorf 4:1 (11:8, 11:4, 9:11, 11:6, 11:4).

On Saturday it’s all about the trophy and medals. The match for third place will take place at 4 p.m. in the Freistadt sports hall, and the showdown will take place at 6 p.m. On paper, Freistadt is an outsider against Pfungstadt. The top club has a trump card up its sleeve in top attacker Patrick Thomas. His powerful blows have to be defused first.
