At 3:30 p.m., officers from the Tumeltsham police station checked two parked dump trucks with temporary French license plates in the “Servus Europa” rest house parking lot. However, comparing the chassis numbers with the requested data sets revealed differences. The two Turkish drivers, 63 and 66 years old, also handed the officers vehicle documents that turned out to be total forgeries.
Querying the vehicle identification numbers resulted in positive hits in the search system, the police reported on Friday afternoon.
Both trucks reported stolen in France
Both vehicles were reported stolen in France. The vehicles were supposed to be brought to Turkey by transferees – and resold there.
According to the police, the total value of both vehicles is in the six-figure euro range. The trucks were temporarily seized and the two drivers were reported.
