There is suspicion of trafficking in addictive substances, a spokeswoman for the Vienna State Police Directorate confirmed to the APA. Accordingly, suspected evidence was seized and an arrest was made. Due to the ongoing investigation, further details will not be announced until next week.
The case is said to have started in Vienna, when a dealer was arrested there last year “with almost 40 times the amount of the drug substitutes” that addicts receive in pharmacies as part of the substitution program. According to spokeswoman Julia Schick, the Vienna State Criminal Police Office is conducting the surveys, and the Federal Criminal Police Office is also involved. According to the newspaper, the financial police and sniffer dogs were also on duty.
