In the afternoon the decision in the women’s doubles was on the agenda; after the first run, Selina Egle/Lara Kipp were in the lead.
The Tyrolean Egle successfully defended her half-time lead on the home track, prevailing in the race, which also counts as part of the World Cup, ahead of the Germans Julia Taubitz (+0.024 seconds) and Anna Berreiter (+0.239). The ÖRV had already averted a medalless European Championship like the one in Sigulda in 2023 in the first race. Lisa Schulte finished fifth on the day and fourth at the European Championships.

“Incredible! European champion – that sounds a little different. That’s really cool, and especially at home. It was a super exciting and close race,” said Egle in the ORF interview. The 25-year-old said she almost became a little emotional when she was presented with the medal. “It was at home and the expectations were high. I knew that if I wanted to be at the front, I just had to give it my all and correct the little mistakes from the first run.”
The Steu/Kindl duo, newly formed for this season, set the best time in both runs. The Austrians won ahead of the Latvians Martins Bots/Roberts Plume (+0.172 seconds) and the Germans Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt (+0.296). Yannick Müller/Armin Frauscher took sixth place (+0.615).
