The OÖVP Braunau reported this in a broadcast on Saturday. After more than 16 years at the helm of the municipality of Helpfau-Uttendorf (Braunau district), Mayor Josef Leimer will resign from office at the end of January and take up retirement. Deputy mayor Hannes Manglberger will stand for the ÖVP in the new election and will also take over official duties until then. “Josef Leimer guided the fortunes of our home community for over 16 years with a lot of passion, sophistication and the necessary portion of humor. During his time, many pioneering projects were implemented and a lot was achieved across all factions. On behalf of the entire local council, I would like to thank you sincerely and warmly,” said Manglberger in the broadcast.
New election on April 28th
The municipal regulations provide for a new election, which will take place on April 28, 2024. Until then, Manglberger will manage the municipality’s business in his role as deputy mayor.
