The Linz ball season was officially opened with a “Celebration for Europe” on Saturday evening with the 101st CV Ball. At the invitation of the Upper Austrian Catholic student associations, thousands of guests came to the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein and celebrated freedom in Europe without borders together. “Nothing can be taken for granted, as 35 years of the fall of the Iron Curtain and war right on the doorstep of Europe and in the Middle East show us,” said ball committee chairman Leo Jindrak at the opening.

Distinguished visitors at the CV Ball

After the glamorous opening quadrille of the Young Women’s and Men’s Committee, State Governor Thomas Stelzer also welcomed the numerous guests and finally invited them to the opening waltz, which included, among others, State Councilor Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer with his wife Julia, Bishop Manfred Scheuer and State Secretary Claudia Plakolm and Leonhard Schitter (Managing Director of Energy AG) ventured onto the dance floor in company. Former state governor Josef Pühringer, medical association president Peter Niedermoser, Heinrich Schaller (general director of Raiffeisenlandesbank) and OÖ insurance director Othmar Nagl also paid a visit to the ball.

In the dance hall, the pt art Orchestra & Friends thrilled the dance-loving guests with their musical performances, while in the Yellow Hall the DJ duo Coverrun provided the perfect rhythms for an exuberant ball night. The St. Florian Boys’ Choir offered a special midnight performance followed by an audience quadrille.

1300 euros for a project in Tanzania

At 11 p.m. things got exciting with the raffle draw. The proceeds from the tickets – a total of 1,300 euros – go to the “Pro Watschinger” initiative for health and education in Tanzania, which is supported by the OÖCV.
