Eucalyptus exports soared by 77.4% annually

The increase is mainly due to the participation of the Durazno Free Zone, which captured 34% of the volume placed in 2023.

The exports of eucalyptus roundwood They soared by 77.4% during the accumulated period last year compared to the figures that had been recorded throughout 2022, mainly due to the emergence in the participation of the Peach Free Trade Zonewhich captured 34% of the volume placed.

Between January and December 2023, 18 million cubic meters of eucalyptus roundwood were exported, recording annual increases in shipments to all destinations, except for Vietnam, where they fell 5%. In total, importers outside the free zones added 200,000 cubic meters more than in 2022, being China the main buyer, followed by India.

According to Tardáguila Agromercados, the main export destination was Punta Pereira Free Zone, followed by the Durazno Free Zone. The podium was completed by Fray Bentos Free Trade Zonewhich demonstrates the influence of the Finnish company UPM in the final figures for eucalyptus sales.

Regarding billing, as of December 2023 it had reached 1,178 million dollars, that is, 82.5% more than what was billed during all of 2022. The greatest relative growth in billing was registered in the Durazno Free Zone and in the India.
